🤰Out of all of the services you offer, what would you say is your specialty?
👶Empowering mamas & their partners to create calm amid chaos
🤰What inspired you to start this practice?
👶I had an incredible experience giving birth with the HypnoBirthing technique and I shared it with others but after witnessing 9/11 from my terrace in the East Village with my 4 month old baby girl in my arm, my company closed and I slumped into PPD. A few months later, sleep deprived and hormones out of whack, I stood on my terrace, looked over and said, "If I jumped, where would they find my body?" If I can help just one mama from experiencing PPD and put divorce lawyers out of business [PPD had a heavy hand in the erosion of my marriage], I felt I could live my live with purpose and passion. impact others to create a world of love, not fear, one birth at a time be it a physical birth of a baby or the emotional/mental/spiritual birth of a mama, partner and family.
🤰How long have you been in this business/practice?
👶since June 2002
🤰What keeps you going every day?
👶Appreciating that every day is a gift that I am still alive.
🤰What's your favorite part of your business?
👶Hearing from couples after they've given birth [or experienced whatever they were working on] on how empowered they felt and that no matter how it went that they advocated for themselves and want to remember, not forgot, their experience.
🤰What makes your business unique?
👶I've have lived what I bring to the table, experiencing motherhood with all the fear, worries and concerns that a first time mama experiences and now going through a divorce, how to stay calm amid the chaos.
🤰What is the best compliment you've received about your business/practice?
👶Among the many:
"Debi is a GodMother"
"I "BIRTHED" my baby" - from a mama that had a scheduled c-section
And...
"Where were you when I was having my babies?"
LOL
🤰What is one thing you would like the community to know about your practice?
👶 I trained directly with the founder of HypnoBirthing, Marie "Mickey" Mongan and had have the pleasure to call Suzanne Arms {natural birth advocate, author of Immaculate Deception and founder of Birthing the Future}, Gena Kirby [The Cultured Doula Program], Barbara Rivera [Birthin Power], Betsy Schwartz [Birth in the Know/ Down the Birth Canal], Karen Brody {playwright and birth visionista of Rock Your Birth}, Dr. John Travis {founder of Wellspring and Alliance for Transforming the Lives of Children} as friends that I have broken bread with them in their homes. I've also worked with the infamous Ina May Gaskin, Michel Odent, Marilyn Milos, Robin Lim and several board members of APPPAH and BirthKeepers past and present including Barbara Decker, Deb Puterbaugh, Jenny Joseph, Dave Paxon, Dawn Thompson, Stephanie Dawn & William Emerson.
🤰Do you have any special announcements that you want to share with the community?
👶The last few years of my life have been turbulent and challenging, as I recovered from a car accident/PTSD, was misdiagnosed with breast cancer and cared for my mom since her stroke and watched my kids grow up as my marriage fell apart despite everything I did. Yet, what felt like death has given me a new life and a renewed passion to return to being of service to mamas such that their journey may be just a little less stressful than mine was.
👶Thank you Debi Tracy for providing some insight to what you do for the community!❤
