This year, at our Family Fun Fair, we are hosting a shaded area for children, ages 4-18, to set up a table and sell their crafts and services. Registration is closed.
Here are some quick ideas on goods, crafts, services to spark creativity:
- Handmade Jewelry
- Calligraphy items, sketches (paint/pencil/charcoal/watercolor) (made on the spot or brought to fair)
- Wood Crafts
- Foraged Items
- Ceramics/pottery
- Make your own (craft kits to make and take at the fair)
- Crocheted, cross stitch, quilted, sewn, knitted items
- Finger paintings
- Crafts
- Photography
- Baked Goods
- Snacks/Drinks for people to enjoy at the fair
- Services like offering a car wash/detail, lawncare, cleaning houses (offsite)
- Services like fanning, a chair to put up fairgoers' feet, etc.
- Upcycled Art
- Talents like storytelling, dancing, or singing, either printed or shared at the fair, poetry, books, etc.
Some tips on having your child host a successful booth:
- Make sure they have everything they need and a wagon to cart it into the fairgrounds
- Table(s), chair(s), signage, other 'fluff' like tablecloths, and if needed, mirrors for your customers to see what they are purchasing on, microphone and speaker, etc.
- Consider something to 'drive' customers to your table - Free fruit? Water station? A place for fairgoers to sit and rest?
- A money box, calculator, and small change
- Google some other ideas on running successful booths at craft fairs.
- GET CREATIVE... there are so many possibilities for kids to expand their ideas and sell what they really enjoy.
