We caught up with

Danielle Joseph-McKay Ibclc

, and asked her some questions about what makes her business so successful.

🌸What inspired you to start this business?

🌻I was inspired by my midwife to provide placenta services because the services were not available to anyone in our community, at that time.

🌸How long have you been in this business?

🌻 Since 2011

🌸What keeps you going every day?
🌻What keeps me going every day is knowing that I am helping mothers to nourish their body and soul in a way that was specifically made, just for them.

🌸What is your favorite part about your business?

🌻My favorite part about my business is working with families and guiding them through the birth and postpartum period. It is such a glorious, yet sensitive time for so many. I am honored to be able to walk with them through it all.

🌸List the services you provide

🌻TCM and Raw Placenta Encapsulation, Raw Cubes, Tinctures, Balm, Truffles and Prints. Birth Support, Post Birth Support, Lactation Support and Childbirth Education.

🌸Out of all of the services you provide, what would you say is your specialty?

🌻My specialties are definitely placenta encapsulation and lactation support. As an IBCLC, I am in a unique position to be able to offer immediate lactation support to my clients after delivery.

🌸What is one thing you would like us to know about your practice?

🌻Being certified in many specialties (Placenta Service Provider, Doula-Birth and Post-Birth, Childbirth Education, and IBCLC), enables me to provide families with the most up-to-date, evidence-based information and support they need to have a pleasurable childbearing experience.

🌸What is the best compliment you've received about your services?

🌻"From our very first phone conversation, I knew I was in the right hands. Long Island Placenta guided me through the process of encapsulating my placenta and helped me make a decision on which method would be best for me. After a few days of [breast]feeding, I knew I needed some advice. Long Island Placenta was my go to and gave me the confidence I needed and guidance that helped me with breastfeeding".

🌸What makes your business unique?

🌻What makes my business unique is that I was one of the first practitioners to provide placenta encapsulation to the families on Long Island. When I first started out encapsulating, no one else on Long Island was doing it. I was pregnant with my third child and my midwife encouraged me to learn the process so I could add it to the birth services I was already offering to my clients. In addition to being a Certified Placenta Service Provider, I am also a Birth and Post-Birth Doula, Childbirth Educator, and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). I love that I am able to provide for my clients throughout all of their childbearing experiences.
