Out of all of the services you provide, what would you say is your specialty?
Thoroughly equipping expectant parents to confidently navigate the unpredictable nature of labor, birth, and early parenthood. A strong focus on trusting our instincts, self-advocacy, best current evidence, protecting a couples' relationship through the journey, and practical equipping of partners to provide confident, expert support to the birthing person.
What inspired you to start this practice?
Catching the "birth bug" through both of my pregnancies and experiences giving birth, and seeing what a total game-changer taking birth class was for me, particularly for my first birth.
How long have you been in this business?
Since 2010
What keeps you going every day?
My passion grows stronger all the time, and I'm so grateful for that. Seeing how much improvement and self-advocacy is needed for birthing families toward safer, healthier, and more fulfilling births also fuels me.
What is your favorite part about your business?
The actual teaching and interaction with folks, as well as hearing birth stories for my podcast. LOVE being a connector for folks, constantly meeting new perinatal professionals to make optimal recommendations for my clients (hence my joining this group!)
What is one thing you would like us to know about your practice?
We're 100% here for you and believe in your ability to birth and parent your baby confidently and intuitively.
What is the best compliment you've received about your services?
One that comes to mind came from an expectant parent dad upon graduation: "When I started class my two words for labor were, 'Oh no!' and now that I've completed the course, my two words are, 'Oh, yeah!'"
What makes your business unique?
I teach in my home (well, in non-Covid times!), which provides a much more nurturing feel for expectant parents. I give highly individualized attention and customized resources for each of my students. I have a podcast as a supplemental and free educational resource -- a great standalone one but also a perfect supplement to my childbirth education series. And I stay very current on new studies that are coming out to best help birthing families know how to best advocate for themselves and their babies.
